Chester Atkins Sellers, age 79, of 1423 Chinquapin Road passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Martha Ann Cogburn Sellers. He was preceded in death by five brothers, William, B. F, Jr., John, Cecil, and David Sylvester Sellers and three sisters, Essie Jervis, Bonnie Pless, and Mary Rhodarmer. Chester was a self-employed contractor and attended Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sonoma Masonic Lodge and the Shriner's Club of Asheville. Chester loved going to Lake Chatuge to camp and fish with his family and friends. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Betty Clark Sellers, he is survived by a son, Baron "Rocky" Sellers and his wife, Elaine, of Cruso; Eddie Bishop and his wife, Susan, who was like a son to him of Clyde, a sister; Edith King, of Charlotte and two grandchildren, Brandan Sellers of Cruso and Stephanie Warren and her husband, Travis, of Canton. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2006 at New Cruso Cemetery with Pastor Jake Cagle, Reverend William King and Reverend Howard Pless officiating. Pallbearers will be Chester's nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
