Christine Harrell

Waynesville-Christine Hogan Harrell, age 87, of 60 Woolsey Heights, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Grover B. and Oberia Crawford Hogan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clifford McCracken Harrell, who died on October 14, 2004; a sister, Maxine Hogan Furness; and a brother, Harry Hogan. She was a graduate of Clyde High School and Asheville Normal Teachers College where she has remained a member of the Alumni Association. She retired from the Haywood County School System with 35 years of service. She worked as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in her husband's absence when he served his country during World War II. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville, where she worked in the Primary Department of Sunday School for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Bridges and her husband, Thomas W. of Naperville, IL; a son, Clifford "Mac" Harrell, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Waynesville; a sister, Bobbie Hogan Stevenson of Waynesville; a brother, Lt. Colonel Jack F. Hogan, of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Cliff Harrell III, Joan Larson, and Elise Greene; and three great grandchildren, Cole Larson, and Madeline and Caroline Greene. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Entombment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Greene, Rick Larson, Tim Stevenson, Sammy Crawford, and Charles, Joe, and Gary Harrell.
