Christine Hendrix

Waynesville-Christine Powell Hendrix, age 57, of 30 Pioneer Drive died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Birdie Wood Powell of Canton and the late Charles Hayes Powell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lewis Hendrix, who died in 1999. She was a graduate of Bethel High School and enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer H. Shuping and her husband, Greg, of Waynesville; two sisters, Penny Swanger and her husband, Danny, and Martha Rhodes and her husband, Roland, both of Canton; four brothers, Hayes Powell and his wife, Helen, of Irvin, CA, Gary Powell and his wife, Mary Ellen, of LaGrange, GA, Ted Powell and his wife, Sandy, and Alan Powell, both of Canton; and two grandchildren, Luke and Grace Shuping. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2005 at 4:30 pm at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Brad Holliman officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 pm Friday prior to the services at the funeral home.
