Asheville, Christine Eller Kimball, age 94, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Deerfield Retirement Community in Asheville. Chris was born in Bloomington, Indiana on August 9, 1922 to Warren Thomas Eller and Edith Benzel Eller. She moved with her parents to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when she was two years old, making them pioneer residents there. She attended Ft. Lauderdale schools through the twelfth grade. She then attended Duke University, the University of Miami, and Tobe Coburn in New York City. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at Duke. In 1943 she married George Morrill Kimball who was then a fighter pilot stationed in Iceland in the US Army Air Corps. Following WWII they moved to Waynesville, NC where Mr. Kimball managed the Waynesville Country Club. They both took an active part in the affairs of the town, the county, and Grace Episcopal Church. When their youngest child was in college, Chris and Mo spent their winters on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale. Mr. Kimball died there in 1986, and Mrs. Kimball returned to their home in North Carolina, eventually moving to Deerfield Retirement Community. They had four children: Janet Camlin (husband Wallie), Richard Eller Kimball (wife Anne), Thomas Gage Kimball (deceased in 1981), and Natalie Kimball Kuhlman (husband Jeff); six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
