Canton-Clara Mae "Granny" Fisher Davis, 89, of Canton died Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at the Brian Center in Waynesville.

A native of Haywood County, she was daughter of the late Robert and Mattie Rogers Fisher and was the widow of Furman Davis who died in 1969. She was also preceded in death by a son-Wendell Davis, four brothers, three sisters and a grandson-Dale Early. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church and had been employed for 26 years at Franklin Senior Aide. She enjoyed sewing and working with flowers.

Surviving are: daughters-Mary Jane Weinberg of Waynesville, and Nancy Browning and her Husband Jack of Gastonia, a daughter-in-law, Edna Davis of Waynesville; sons-Billy Joe Davis and his wife Janie of Fletcher, James Mac Davis and his wife Juanita of Killian, AL, Wilfred Davis and his wife Carolyn of Canton and Neal Davis and his wife Martha of Murphy; twenty one grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22nd in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Ted Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Fines Creek Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Wilfred Davis. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
