Clara Green

Clara Johnson Green, age 76, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Albert and Lois Mathews Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Green, who died in 2001; a son, Gary Steven Green, who died in 2008; one sister, Catherine Burch; and three brothers, Ray, Harry, and Richard Johnson. Clara was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church in Tignal, Georgia. She loved reading, working puzzles, swimming, antiquing, square dancing, but most of all playing with her great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Green Jennings and her husband, Lee, of Seneca, South Carolina, and Patsy Green Hagood and her husband, Larry, of Canton; one son, Danny Ray Green and his wife, Julie, of Waynesville; two sisters, Doris Powell and her husband, Sam, of Clyde, and Nellie Almond of Marion; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
