Clara Herren

Clara Smith Herren- age 83 of Bryson Road died Monday, September 11, 2006 at Mission Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a daughter of the late Troy Weaver Smith and Florence Guy Smith. Mrs. Herren was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Henry Herren, Sr. who died in 2003; two sons, Mark Henry Herren, Jr. and Ronald E. Herren; a stepmother, Annie J. Smith; two brothers, Reverend Wayne Smith and Guy Smith, Sr.; two sisters, Ruby Smith Harkins and Milla Smith Davis. She was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Terry E. Herren, and his wife, Janet C., of Asheville; three sisters, Claudine Reese, and her husband, James, of Candler, Peggy King, of Leicester and Debbie Henson, of Candler; four sisters-in-law, Wilma Smith, Mildred Smith, Georgia Smathers and Anna Dee Davis, and her husband, Jack; three brothers, Jackson Smith, and his wife, Carolyn, of Lake Lure, Troy Weaver Smith, Jr., and his wife, Bobbie, of Nebo, and Roy Smith, and his wife Sue, of Candler; five grandchildren, Heidi Herren Case, and her husband Gary, Holli Herren Ball, and her husband Jeff, Mark "Shane" Henry Herren, III, and his wife, Amy, Angie Baldwin, and Lisa Miller; nine great-grandchildren, Kylie, Seth, Andrew, Cody, Jordan, Dylan, Jacob, Skylar, Baby Garrett to be born in October, 2006 and two step-great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Guy Smith, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Terry and Janet Herren, 8 Hummingbird Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.
