Clara Mclean

February 26, 1955 — January 27, 2017

Waynesville, Clara "Lee" McLean passed away in the comfort of her beloved home in Waynesville, North Carolina on Friday, January 27, 2017. Lee began her earthly journey on February 26, 1955 in Tampa, Florida and was predeceased by her adoring parents, William Angus McLean, Sr. and Myra Lou Ashmore McLean; and her cherished brother, Paul Ashmore McLean. Lee attended Tuscola High School and Stratford before enrolling in Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she majored in psychology. From 1986 until 1991, Lee was a substance abuse counselor at the Pinehurst Treatment Center in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Through 1994, she held the position of Program Director for The Wellspring Center for Women in Orange Park, Florida. Lee threw her energies into being the best mother, grandmother, and friend she could possibly be. She enjoyed taking great care of her beloved fur baby, Mr. Big, gardening, listening to audio books, the fellowship of her community, laughing, and helping others. Lee was also a loyal friend of Bill W. and will always be remembered as a wonderful woman with an infectious laugh who loved life and all its bounty. We will miss you, Leebo. Those left to treasure their memories of Lee include her devoted daughter, Courtney Celeste Page; her grandson and greatest joy, Harrison Paul Buchan; her brother, William Angus McLean, Jr. (Karen); her niece, Hurley Ashmore Winkler; her sister-in-law, Lynn Hurley Winkler (Greg); as well as many other family members and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Waynesville with Rev. Terry Bevill officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
