Waynesville, Clarence V. "Curly" Burnett, age 77, of Cove Creek Road, died on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Solace Center. A native of Sweetwater, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John and Mary Bell Humphrey Burnett. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Namonie and three brothers, Thurston, Fate, and Richard Burnett. He was US Army retired Sgt First Class who served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post 5202 of Waynesville. He enjoyed reading and attended Dellwood Baptist Church. He is survived by is wife of 32 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Burnett; three sons, Calvin Knapp, III, Dale Knapp, and Philip Knapp, all of St. Petersburg, FL; three daughters, Cindi Louise Dininger and her husband, Dennis, of Ashland, OH, Deborah Beason of Pinellas Park, FL and Connie Doll and her husband, Mike, of Waynesville; one brother, Clyde Burnett, of Florida; 16 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Rogers and Reverend John Grasty officiating. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
