Clarence Caldwell

May 19, 1917 — December 9, 2005

Clarence Gilmer Caldwell, age 88, died Friday, December 09, 2005 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. He was born in Catalooche and was a lifelong resident Haywood County. He was the son of the late of Marion Hubert and Maude Lee Sutton Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dalton Caldwell who died May 4, 2005. He retired from Lockheed-Martin in Oakridge, TN as a machinist. He was a member of Canton First Baptist Church and was a Sergeant United States Army serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was an avid trout fisherman and loved the outdoors. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Caldwell Estes and her husband, David of Greenville, SC; a sister, Mae Burr Fincher of Chandler, NC; a brother, Raymond Caldwell of Hickory; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren. A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Jack Sammons officiating.
