Clarence Morrow, Jr.

Canton - Clarence Herman Morrow, Jr., age 77, of Sharp Mountain Road died Monday, March 12, 2007 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Elsie McCracken Morrow. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Morrow and Peggy Nations. Clarence was a member and past master of the Sonoma Lodge #472 AF&AM as well as the Scottish Rite and the York Rite. He was a also member, Past Patron, and Past District Deputy Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sonoma Chapter #254. Clarence served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Cruso Volunteer Fire Department and as a volunteer with the Haywood County Rescue Squad. Active in East Fork Baptist Church until his recent illness, he was a faithful member of the church and the choir. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donelda Fales Morrow; four daughters, Pamela Whitlock and her husband, Gary, of Houston, TX, Mary Mittlestedt and her husband, John, of Round Rock, TX, Marlene Scott and her husband, Pete Grega, of Houston, TX and Diane Latsch and her husband, Rick, of Big Lake, MN; two sons, Stephen Morrow and his wife, Susan, of Baytown, TX and Eric Scott and his wife, Ana, of Houston, TX; one sister, Betty Little of Canton. Also surviving Clarence are his ten grandchildren, Megan Kaniss, Matt Whitlock, John Wigley, Jenne Rehbein, Kathy Bell, Erick Hernandez, Amanda Kaiser, Geoffrey Latsch, Jennifer Latsch and Caroline Walker and his four great-grandchildren, Justin Bell, Ryan Christopher Rehbein, Brenden Todd Rehbein and Serenity Kaiser. Clarence was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved uncle. Passionately dedicated to his family, friends, and community, he will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007 at East Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles E. Cathey Masonic Scholarship Fund, c/o Grand Secretary, P.O. Box 6506, Raleigh, NC 27628.
