Waynesville, Clarissa Finley Kuehn, age 68, passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Homestead. Born in Wilmington, North Carolina 1945, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Fornia Rutt Finley. She lived most of her life in Charlotte and Waynesville. Clarissa attended Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina and received her degree in business from Kings College in Charlotte. She retired from Lowes where she worked in the Customer Service Department. She was a champion for abused and abandoned animals and supported Haywood Animal Welfare Association by volunteering her time. She was also interested in politics and was a past Chariman of the Haywood County GOP. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. Clarissa loved to read and enjoyed woodworking, carving and family activities. She truly loved life, family and friends and always had a bright, positive attitude and a wonderful smile. Cancer finally defeated her body but never her spirit. She was a wonderful, lovely lady inside and out and will be greatly missed and remembered by her family for her generosity and courageous spirit. Clarissa is survived by her husband of 44 years, Curtis Kuehn; one son, David Kuehn and his wife, Janna, of Canton; and two grandchildren, Taiylor and Cristian Kuehn. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building One, Asheville, NC 28801 or The Homestead, 127 Sunset Ridge, Clyde, NC 28721.
