Claude Medford

Waynesville-Claude Avery Medford, age 77, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2006. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ruben Enloe Medford and Ola Scates Medford. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Rex Medford who died in 1980 and Calvin G. Medford who died in 1987; and two sisters, Willie Mae Price who died in 1979 and Ruth Cunningham who died this year. He was a US Army veteran of World War II having served in Germany and was a member of VFW Post 5202. He was also a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter, Sheila Marie of Big Sandy, TN; five sons, Mitchell Medford of Florida, Claude S. Medford of Clarkesville, TN, Terry D. and Keith L., both of Canton, and Grady P. Medford of Clyde; two brothers, Dr. Robert J. Medford and his wife, Nancy, of Nebo and James Medford and his wife, Barbara, of Hendersonville, NC; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
