Claude Setzer

CLAUDE E. "GENE" SETZER "Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather" Waynesville, Claude Eugene Setzer., of Oxner Cove Road, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his home. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ellis Rufus and Rose Lee Edwards Setzer and was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Gene was a gifted carpenter and had the fortune to work for several building contractors over the years. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He was a member of Camp Branch Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Bryson Setzer; one daughter, Vickie Page (John), of Waynesville; one foster daughter, Monica Stevens (Mike), of Canton; one sister, Rose Morrow, of Waynesville; one brother, Ellis Rufus Setzer, of Waynesville; a special niece, Brenda Stiles; three foster-grandchildren, Sadie, Maggie and Tyler Stevens, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday April 9, 2017 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesville with Reverend Johnnie Passmore, Reverend Jerry Nelson, and Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow Rocky Branch cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
