Claude Stamey, Jr. Candler, Claude C. "Buster" Stamey, Jr., 83, of Old US 19/23 died Saturday, May 22nd at his residence. A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late Claude C. Stamey, Sr. and Elsie Jones Stamey and was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW post 3999, the Enka Candler Business Association, Snug Harbor, Board of directors of Enka Candler Fire Department, Taxpayer's for Accountable Government and was a member and deacon of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eula Morgan Stamey, a son Ronald Claude "Pete" Stamey and his wife Diane, of Candler, a granddaughter, Monica Lynn Stamey of Candler and her fiancé, Kaleb Rathbone of Fines Creek, two sisters, Helen L. "Billy" Stamey of Candler and Zilliah "Noonie" Duckett and her husband, Max of Canton and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25th at Ridgeway Baptist Church with Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 until 8:30 at Wells Funeral Home, Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery Perpetual Care at 525 Old US 19/23 Candler, NC 28715 or to Mountain Area Hospice, Solace at P. O, Box 25338 Asheville, NC 28813.
