Clyde Sutton

Clyde Calvin Sutton, age 94, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Samuel Lawson and Nila Baxter Sutton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Blaylock Sutton who died in 1999. Clyde was a retired United States Air Force veteran with 22 years of service which included World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church and also worked at the Asheville Citizen Times for several years. He is survived by a son, Clyde Eugene Sutton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Starnes Cove Baptist Church with the Reverend Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
