Coleen Hocker

Coleen Mears Hocker, age 63, walked into eternity on Monday May 16, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Benjamin Leyton and Mary Ruth Rhinehart Mears, and was preceded in death by her Father who died in January and her sister in law Margaret Remley Mears. Coleen was born February 2, 1948 in Haywood County, and was a graduate of the last Clyde High School class of 1966. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, and will be missed by all who knew her. Coleen was a former member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church of Lake Junaluska. Surviving are her devoted husband, Jerry Hocker, of Cincinnati; two sons, Chris Sorrells, of Canton and Eric Hocker, of Cincinnati; a daughter, Amy Hofmeier also of Cincinnati; grandchildren Ben and Liz Hofmeier and Rachel Sorrells; two brothers Steve Mears and his wife, Lovenda, of Clyde and Paul Mears of Walterboro, SC.; and one sister, Pat Sherlin and her husband, Ron, of Newnan, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Alan Mears officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials should be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 4420 Carver Woods Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242-5545.
