Connie Sheppard

Connie Mason Sheppard, age 89, of 147 Newfound Street, died May 20, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Macon County and a lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Milas and Delphia McMahan Mason. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carey P. Sheppard, who died July 27, 1995; a daughter, Betty Cable; and a brother, Jack Mason. She was formerly an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and currently a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton. For many years, Connie was active in the Haywood County Home Demonstration Club, taught ceramics, had a ceramic shop at her home, and was a custom seamstress. She attended numerous state fairs displaying her ceramic works. Of all of her activities, her family and her church were foremost in her life. She is survived by three daughters, Gail Sheppard of the home; Jynks S. Lanning and her husband, Richard, of Canton; and Donna S. Pack and her husband, Estes, of Maryville, TN; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Canton with the Reverend Clay Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
