Constance Hansen

Whittier, NC, Constance H. Hansen, age 91, of Holly Cove Road, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at Medwest-Harris Hospital in Sylva. A native of Gainesville, FL, she had lived in Atlanta, GA until moving to Jackson County in 1999. She was the daughter of the late Kelly and Ollie Hunt Higginbotham and was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Higginbotham. Constance was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church and was the former church secretary at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL and the executive secretary for Gulf Life Insurance for 35 years. Following retirement, she was manager of Cross and Sword, the official state play for the State of Florida. Constance became the church secretary and church clerk for Cornerstone Baptist Church of Plano, TX and was one of the three original charter members. She is survived by one son, Frank Carnett and his wife Oletha of Whittier, NC; two granddaughters, Kelley Wade and her husband Bill of Atlanta, GA; and Linda Leopold and her husband Roger of Huntsville, AL; and 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Amanda Wade and Keith and Kaci Leopold. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Calvary Road Baptist Church. Reverend John H. Swanger, III and Reverend Wayne Willett will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Calvary Baptist Church, 77 Sutton Loop, Waynesville, NC 28786-6928. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
