Cora Metcalf

Cora Lee Metcalf, age 79, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John and Effie Rogers Metcalf. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Bobby Metcalf. Cora graduated from Bethel High School and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She is survived by three sisters, Martha Grooms, Frances Free and her husband, Carlos, and Ruth Wright all of Canton; three brothers, Rex Metcalf and his wife, Joann, of Rock Hill, SC, Zane Metcalf and his wife, Bernice, of Athens, GA, and Keith Metcalf and his wife, Barbara, of Elberton, GA; a sister-in-law, Clara Metcalf of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mt.
