Cora Sorrells

Cora Hutchison Sorrells, age 79, of 111 H.T. Drive died Saturday, May 28 2005 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Maudie Stephenson Hutchison. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Tommy L. Sorrells, who died in 1973 and two brothers Virge and John Hutchison. Mrs. Sorrells spent her life dedicated to her family as a wife, mother, and mamaw to all. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was very active on many mission trips and also served as a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harris Sorrells, three daughters, Hilda Leatherwood and her husband, Walt, Martha McCracken and her husband, Mike, and Betty Sims all of Clyde and a sister, Lillie Cole of Candler. Mrs. Sorrells was "Mamaw" to ten grandchildren, Stephanie Kuykendall, Denise, Tara, and Frank Leatherwood, Mark, Matthew, and Michael McCracken, Michelle Davis, Charly Sims and Tommy H. Sorrells, and twelve great - grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Crawford - Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service at Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, at other times, the family will be at the home.
