CORDELL J. CLARK
Waynesville-Cordell J. Clark, age 93, died Monday, December 2, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late William and Dolly Watkins Clark. He was a retired machinist and a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Huskey Clark and his second wife, Blanche Covington Clark; also by his brothers, Gordon, Ellis, David, Henry, Grady, and Norton; his sisters, Irene and Sally; and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Chambers.
Surviving are his children, Lorraine Chambers and husband, Charles, Cecil Clark and his wife, Carol, Jo Whiteside and her husband, Bill; his grandchildren, Rachel Seeley and husband, Brent, Kim Bruner, and her husband, Richard, Joy Whiteside, and Lee Simmons and her husband, Joshua; his step-grandchildren, Lori Covington, and Francy Mann and her husband, Steve; his great-grandchildren, Will and Kate Proctor and Mary Elizabeth Bruner; his sisters, Gladys Clark Huskey and Lena Clark Beck of Asheville; two nephews and eight nieces.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville with Reverend Carl Presnell and Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at at 1:00 p.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery on Kirklands Creek in Swain County. Pallbearers will be Richard Bruner, Joshua Simmons, Will Proctor, Mark Ledford, Roger Whiteside, and Steve Mann. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 68 Peters' Cove Road, in the Bethel Community.
