Creed Wilkins

Canton- Creed Pearson Wilkins- age 87 died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was a native of Rutherford County but had resided in Haywood County for a few years and was a son of the late Marvin and Sophie Pearson Wilkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn W. Wilkins who died in 2000; four sisters, Mary Williams, Sophia Parkinson, Sue Robinson and Jane Wilkins, and one brother, Charles Wilkins. He was owner and operator of Acme Car Sales in Ruthfordton and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two daughters; Ann Wilkins of Charlotte and Susan Smathers of Canton; one sister, Elizabeth Walker of Rutherfordton and two grandchildren, Matt Smathers of Newnan, GA and Clay Smathers of Canton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton with Reverend Ed Hillman, Reverend Tonya Hill, Reverend Doug Love and Reverend Dean Baughn officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
