Crisanto Cruz

Maggie Valley, Crisanto V. "Cris" Cruz, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at The Homestead. A native of the Philippines, he was the son of the late Jose V. and Loreto Pingol Cruz. He was also preceded in death by a brother Jose V. Cruz, Jr. A graduate of the University of the Philippines and Marquette University, Cris started his career in the U.S. as a Bench Chemist at Thiem Corporation, eventually rising to Vice President. In 1989, he co-started Cemedine USA as a Senior Vice President, retiring in 2000. Cris resided in the Milwaukee area from 1968-2000, and in retirement moved to Maggie Valley. Cris was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church and Maggie Valley Country Club. He had an enthusiasm and love for golf, bird watching, travel and convertible cars. He was always quick with a joke and thoroughly enjoyed making others laugh. Cris was a loving husband, father, Lolo and friend. Cris is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deanna Cruz; one daughter, Penelope Cruz, and her husband, David Ghitelman, of Brooklyn, New York; one son, Christopher Cruz, and his wife, Carmen Pangilinan, of the Milwaukee area; two sisters, Ludy Martinez, of Manila, Philippines and Purita Dizon, and her husband, Arthur, of Winnipeg, Canada; one grandchild, Antonio Cruz and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church with Father Benonis officiating.
