Cunningham

Waynesville, Joseph C. Cunningham, age 89, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Wid Thomas and Edna Mae Williams Cunningham. He was also preceded in death by his wife Josephine Reece Cunningham, who died in 2006; four brothers and one sister. Jody was a private in the United States Army and served during WWII. He was a former employee of Automatic Heating Company. Jody was a kind and compassionate husband, father and papaw. He was an avid Tarheel fan and also rooted for the Atlanta Braves, he also enjoyed collecting coins and had an extensive collection dating back from childhood. Jody is survived by three sons, Thomas Cunningham, Ronnie Cunningham, and his wife, Revonda and Robert Cunningham, all of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Richie Cunningham and Mistie Cunningham. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity of one's choice.
