CURNAL S. GREENE

Clyde-Curnal Stooken Greene, age 76, of 100 Hobble Hill Road, died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cocke County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Anderson Greene and Hulda Wiles Greene. He was also preceded in death by a son, Roy Lynn Green; and was one of 21 children and was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He was a farmer of produce and burley who enjoyed trading, fishing, hunting, and playing his guitar. He was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy ''Buddy'' Greene; eight daughters, Brenda Beasley and her husband Charles, Dottie Ramsey and her husband, Thomas, Marlene Trantham and her husband, Jerry, Betsy Sutton and her husband William, and Nancy Greene and her companion, Terry Finger, all of Clyde, Linda Barlow and her husband, Richard, of Lenoir, NC, Carolyn Roberts and her companion Jim Locker of Waynesville, and Sue Yancey and her companion, Shane Bivens, of Valdese, NC; four sons, Lowell Greene and his wife, Donna, and Reverend Ronald Greene and his wife, Edna, all of Clyde and Steven Greene and his wife, Connie, of Waynesville, and Billy Greene and his companion, Linda Andreti, of Sylva; four sisters, Hazel Roberts of South Carolina, Marie Payne of Hot Springs, Geneva Walters of Georgia, and Chattie Manning of Tennessee; one brother, Jay Greene, of Hot Springs; 10 grandchildren, Crystal Warlick, Chuck Barlow, Anthony Ramsey, Joshua Greene, Tiffany Beasley, Johnathon Roberts, Crystal Locker, and Tonya, Sabrina, and Clyde Greene; and six great-grandchildren, Shane Bivens, Angel Johnson, Rebecca Morgan, Angel Paine, and Christopher and Dakota Barlow.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2003 at Panther Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Greene, Reverend James Roberts, and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Reece, Johnny and Tommy Manning, Terry Finger, Jerry Trantham, Anthony Ramsey, Shane Bivens, and Curnal Payne. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Rich and Frank Dunham.
