Cynthia Henderson

April 15, 1958 — October 8, 2015

"Mimi" Waynesville - Cynthia Ann Banks Henderson, 57, left on a journey to her heavenly home on October 8, 2015 at Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with her loved ones by her side. She was born on April 15, 1958 in Asheville, NC to Charles and Mildred Thompson Banks and was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John Hannon Thompson and her paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Richard Banks. Cynthia was a lifelong resident of Haywood County having grown up in Canton and was a 1976 graduate of Pisgah High School. She then went on to attend Peace College in Raleigh. Cynthia worked at Hometrust Bank and lived her life to the fullest which was evidenced by her numerous friends and involvement within many community organizations. Some of her greatest joys were playing the piano and organ, sewing, rescuing animals, laughing and spending time with her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville where she was the church pianist. In addition to her parents, left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Haley Holcombe Guy and her husband, Zac of Waynesville; brother, Charles Michael Banks of Westfield, New Jersey; grandchildren, Tucker, Walker and Parker Guy; her "4th" grandson, Jacob Broom; aunt, Ann Thompson of Canton; best friend, Pam Smathers as well as numerous cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those who cared for Cynthia especially Charles White, Donna Surles, and Frances Owenby for their exceptional love and care. A celebration of Cynthia's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Waynesville with the Reverend Mitch Huskison and Reverend Clay Morgan officiating. Memorials may be made to Haywood Health Care Foundation (Hospice), c/o The Homestead, 127 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
