Daisy Messer

Clyde, Daisy Ruth Clark Messer, age 72, of the Crabtree community, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a native of Mt. Airy, MD but lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late James Millard Clark and Ruth Rebecca Hess Clark and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Caroline Jett. Daisy was a very active member of Crabtree United Methodist Church and retired as a loan officer from Southeastern Savings Bank. Daisy had a special zest for life, enjoyed the company of everyone she met and was very involved in the Crabtree community. She was also an avid supporter of Alzheimers' awareness and research. Above all, she was devoted to her family, especially her husband. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Edwin Messer; one son, Dan Messer and his wife Kendra of Clyde; three daughters, Barbara Sue Parker and her husband Greg of Clyde; Jenny Jett and her husband Andy of Fayetteville, AR; and Judy Stewart and her husband Andy of Simpsonville, SC; a sister, Barbara Jane Harrison of Mt. Airy, MD; 7 grandchildren; Blane Parker, Madeline Jett, Katie Stewart, Emily Stewart, Daniel and Tucker Messer and Olivia Noelle Messer; one nephew, Jack Rogers and two nieces, Mary Guy and Roxanne Hemphill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 at Crabtree United Methodist Church with Reverend Kathy McAbee and Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
