Daisy Reed

Daisy Payne Reed, age 97, formerly of the Old Canton Highway and Greenville, SC, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the home of her daughter and devoted caregiver for the past 14 years in Charleston. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Lon and Mary Morgan Payne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Reed, who died in 1955 and a granddaughter, Susan Diane Hedden, who died in 1961. Daisy was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She was former employed by Tindal Avenue Day Care in Greenville, SC and Champion Paper in Canton. Over the years, our mother enjoyed sending greeting cards to family and friends. Hopefully, the recipients enjoyed receiving them a fraction as much as she enjoyed sending them. She is survived by two daughters, Robbie Jo Mullinax and her husband, Joseph, of Charleston and Greenville, SC, and Patricia Switzer of Colquitt, GA; one step-daughter, Dot Hyatt and her husband, Joe, of Clyde, NC; one son, W.C. Reed and his wife, Judy, of Sherrills Ford, NC; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and "her faithful companion, Scarlett, who watched over her daily." Special thanks to Barbara Rock for her kindness and patience over the past few years. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
