Dale O'Neil

Lloyd Dale O'Neil, 66 of the Cruso Community, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his residence. Born in 1945 in Haywood County to the late Tallie and Sue Hooper O'Neil, he graduated from Bethel High School with the Class of 1963. Dale was employed at the Dupont Plant in Brevard for 28 years. He loved walking the mountains near his home digging ginseng. Proud of his Irish and Cherokee heritage, he was steadfast in his beliefs and had a profound respect for nature and animals. He enjoyed music, western novels and spending time with his sweetheart Jan at "The Big Orchard". A devoted member of East Fork Baptist Church, he loved singing in the choir. After retirement, he and his wife served faithfully as custodians there for 17 years. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jan Poston O'Neil. Sons, Tracy Dale O'Neil (Joyce) of Canton, Kevin Michael O'Neil (Christa) and Dale's beloved grandson, Andrew Michael O'Neil of Flippin, Arkansas. Brothers, Floyd O'Neil, Canton and David O'Neil, (Theresa), Canton. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm Sunday, May 27, 2012 at East Fork Baptist Church, Cruso Road, Canton with Pastors Greg Cullen and Larry Sprinkle officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. Pallbearers will be Tracy, Kevin and Andrew O'Neil, Floyd & David O'Neil, Craig Rogers, Claud Trull and Horace Edwards. Burial will be at New Cruso Cemetery, Canton.
