Dallas Snelson

Dallas Wiley Snelson, age 81, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late James Dallas and Della Cain Snelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers. Wiley retired from Champion International, in 1993, with 39 years of service and was a member of West Canton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed his camping trips to Lakewood Campground in SC, traveling to Nashville music festivals, and NASCAR. Wiley was a United States Marine veteran having served during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye Snelson; one son, Randy Snelson and his wife, Deborah, of Indian Trail, NC; one daughter, Pat Jackson of Waco, TX; one sister, Katherine Whitted of Canton; two grandchildren, Eric Jackson and his wife, Lisa, and Stephanie Spivey and her husband, Steve; six great-grandchildren, Shannon, Shelbi, and Sheridan Spivey, Cody, Bryce, and Brooks Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend George Holley, Reverend Keith Clark, Reverend W.O. "Bill" Henson, and Reverend Wallace Britt officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
