Dana Strickler

Clyde, Dana Cleve Strickler, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. He was a native of Fall Branch, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynette McClure Strickler; his parents, Lester Lee and Eva Smith Strickler; and a sister, Patsy S. Hensley. Dana graduated high school and enrolled at East Tennessee State University at the age of sixteen, where he received his BS Degree in Chemistry in 1957. Following graduation, he served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant. He was later employed as a chemist at Dayco International Corporation for 31 years. Upon his retirement, Dana obtained his realtor's license. His many hobbies included woodworking, and he especially loved to turn bowls, modestly signing his pieces as "Crudely Crafted by Dana." Dana was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville. He was active in the Men's Sunday-School Class and had previously served on the board of the Haywood Chapter of Youth for Christ. He is survived by his wife of more than 24 years, Anita Ratcliff Strickler; a son, Brett Anthony Strickler and his wife, Mary Jane, of Fall Branch, Tennessee; two brothers, Reverend Carl Strickler and wife, Janis, of Kingsport, Tennessee and G. Mark Strickler and his wife, Beverly, of Fall Branch, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Desireé, Billy, Jacob, Dylan, Cody and Anthony; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services in the chapel of the church.
