Daniel Kelley

November 12, 1946 — May 9, 2010

Waynesville, Daniel Harold Kelley, age 63 passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Robert Roy and Hazel Marcus Kelley. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Wayne, David and Gerald Kelley. Dan was a lifelong member, former Deacon and treasurer of Ninevah Baptist Church. He was employed by Blue Ridge Glass and had previously been employed by Dayco Corporation for 30 years. He was a jack of all trades and was very devoted to his family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and co-workers. Dan was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching westerns. He was a U. S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Frankie Smith Kelley, one son, Daniel David Kelley and his wife Kelly; one daughter, Danielle Kelley Owens and her husband Tim; two sisters, Sue Mashburn and her husband Lester, Pat Messer and her husband Virgil; all of Waynesville, two grandsons, Gavin and Garrett Owens and special family friends and neighbors Doug and Judy Cabe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. Reverend Mike Leslie will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military services conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Ninevah Baptist Church Building Fund, 931 Country Club Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
