David Evans, Sr.

Waynesville, David Billy Evans, Sr., age 69, of Broad Street, died on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Smoky Mountain Health Care. A native of Haywood County and son of the late Kelly Bean and Cornelia Bryson Evans, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Evans. He worked for Haywood Builders for 31 years and was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather and was also an avid fan of Tuscola football. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlene Evans; three daughters, Rita Bolin (Wayne) and Donna Fielden, all of Waynesville, and Diane Dillard of Sylva; one son, David B. Evans, Jr. (Marie Rogers) of Waynesville; one sister, Minnie Mae Rogers (Lawrence) of Waynesville; two brothers, Vinson Evans (Ruby) of Waynesville and John Evans (June), of Clyde; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Hazelwood Baptist Church of which he was a member, with Reverend Tim Lolley officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
