David Franklin

July 16, 1982 — January 9, 2006

Waynesville-David Edwin Franklin, age 23, of 1341 Pigeon Road, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Born in Buncombe County, he was a life-long of Haywood County and was the son of Barry and Sheila Messer Franklin. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul Franklin in 1985. David was a 2000 graduate of Tuscola High School and later received his Bachelors Degree in Architecture from UNC-Charlotte and planned to attend Clemson University's graduate program in the fall. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Nicole Franklin of Canton; paternal grandmother, Cleta Franklin; and maternal grandparents, Reverend Ernest and Clursa Messer of Waynesville; as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and Reverend Stacey Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Ashe, Brandon Ferguson, Donnie Buchanan, Andy Franklin, Justin James, and Jarred Rathbone. Memorials may be made to Wilmington Treatment Center, 2520 Troy Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
