David James Boone

David James Boone, aged 91, of Haywood County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the Haywood Regional Medical Center. Born on July 3, 1933, he was a lifelong resident of the area and a cherished member of his community.

David dedicated an impressive 39 years of his professional as an environmental Lab Technician with Champion International. His commitment to his work and the environment reflects his strong character and integrity. He was a graduate of Bethel High School. 

A devoted family man, David is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Barbara Kelley Boone, and their three sons: Michael Boone, Phillip Boone, and Kelley Boone. He shared an enduring bond with his siblings, including his sister Mary Jo West and brother Billy Conard. The legacy of David continues through his five grandchildren: Amanda Boone, Ashley, Boone, Alicia Boone, Michael Boone, and Brittany Snyder, as well as his six great-grandchildren: Violet Szulewski, Cora Szulewski, Anthony Boone, Jack Morris, Louise Bryan, and Wyatt Snyder. David's familial ties were important to him, and he took great pride in his family's accomplishments and cherished moments.

Among his proudest accomplishments, David was a dedicated member of Francis Cove Church, where he contributed to the community and engaged in fellowship with others.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Penland Conard, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.

Memorial Services for Mr. Boone will be held at Francis Cove Church at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior at the church. Located at 2530 Crymes Cove Rd, Waynesville, NC 28786.

David James Boone will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his commitment to his career, and his contributions to his community. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
