David Presnell

Clyde, David Lewis Presnell, age 77, of 1186 Wesley Creek Road, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his residence. Born on November 23, 1935 in Madison County, David lived most of his life in Haywood County, but his heart remained in Meadow Fork. He was the son of the late John and Lona Burns Presnell and was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin, J.P., and Robert Presnell. David was employed at Iron Tree Golf Course for seventeen years. Since 1947, he had been an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and liked nothing more than traveling to the stadium with Martha to catch a game. He was of Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Martha Price Presnell; five sons, Ronnie Presnell (Merrita) of Hot Springs, Carl Presnell (Connie) of Clyde, Jerry Presnell (Janet) of Candler, Daniel Presnell of Clyde, and William Cates (Amy) of Clyde; one sister, Nelldean Southerland, of Waynesville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson, Reverend Gary Putnam, and Bill McCracken officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services.
