David Tomlin

Waynesville, David Bruce Tomlin, age 58, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his residence. A native of Philadelphia, he lived in Naples, FL before moving to Haywood County. David was the son of Jean Cairns of Florida and the late John B. Tomlin, III. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John B. Tomlin, IV. He was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. David worked 23 years at Robert of Philadelphia Hair Salon in Naples, FL and six years as Hair Color by David located at the Indigo Salon in Waynesville. David's labor of love was emceeing events, including 30 Relay for Life events in FL. and NC. David loved country dancing and stock car racing and was a tire man for races in the All Pro Series in the southeast division in the 80's. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diane Tomlin, 4 sisters, Cynthia Tomlin-Mehalick of FL; Pamela Tomlin of ¬¬¬¬¬NJ; Heather Johnson of FL and Kathy DiBernardo of NJ; 3 brothers, Robert Tomlin and his wife Cheryl of AL; Ronald Tomlin of FL and Mark Cairns and his partner Ron Sikora of FL; numerous nieces and nephews and two precious cats, Jo Black and Shasta. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father Larry LoMonaco will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Haywood County, 120 Executive Park, Bldg. 1, Asheville, NC 28801 , St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 234 Church St., Waynesville, NC 28786 and Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 854, Waynesville, NC 28786.
