"A Special Man" Canton – John Dennis Eichelberger, III, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he was a son of the late, John Dennis Eichelberger, II and Veronica Ann Ecklekamp Eichelberger. He lived most of his life in the Tampa area of Florida before moving to Haywood County where he spent the last three years. Dennis was a well-loved, special man and was known for helping others. He was extremely generous almost to a fault. He lived life to the fullest, cherishing every moment. Dennis enjoyed world traveling, having visited Europe, South America, Canada, and Mexico many times with his family. He loved spending time outdoors playing golf and enjoying the scenery of the mountains. Dennis was an active member of Cruso United Methodist Church where he was lay leader and taught a bible study. He is survived by his wife, Jacolin Potts Eichelberger; two daughters, Mary Ann Meagher and her husband, Michael, of Cary and Terri Rainier and her partner, Alloyah, of Singapore; two brothers, Gordon "Rusty" Eichelberger and his wife, Nelda, and M.J. "Ike" Eichelberger and his wife, Natalie, all of Knoxville, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Jon E. Potts and his wife, Prudi, of Port Charlotte, Florida; three grandchildren, Joshua Reinert, Colin and Quinton Meagher; and several beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Rennie Salata officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Following the visitation at the funeral home, there will be a gathering of friends at the residence.
