Deroy Ford

DeRoy Ford, age 80, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Theodore and Audrey Putnam Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jane Smith Ford and three brothers. DeRoy worked at Champion International for over 50 years in the maintenance department as a painter. He is survived by two sons, Stephen and Sam Ford; one daughter, Jane Ford Clark; one sister, JoAnn Hoyle; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Carson officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canton Historical Museum, P.O. Box 987, Canton, NC 28716.
