Dessie Peeler

Waynesville, Dessie Walker Peeler, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. She was a native of Cleveland County, NC and the daughter of the late William C. and Gazzie McNeely Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Peeler, who died in 1991; one sister, Lorene Gantt and a brother, Delbert Walker. Dessie loved her family, listening to country music, working puzzle games and especially babysitting her great grandchildren. She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Dottie Norman and her husband, Mike, of Waynesville and Jean Word, and her husband, David, of Waynesville; one sister, Bernice Wesley, of Hendersonville, NC, two grandchildren, Todd Norman and Tonya Teague and four great grandchildren, Eli and Sara Woody and Emily and John Norman. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2009 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with Reverend David Russell and Reverend Tony Sisk officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
