Dewey Burress

August 18, 1939 — July 23, 2007

Lake Junaluska-Dewey Edward Burress, age 67, of 19 Ruby Park, died on Monday, July 23, 2007 at his residence. A native and life long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert and Willie Mae Cope Burress. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Michael Burress. Dewey was employed with Haywood Builders Supply as a truck driver before retiring in 2002. After his retirement he worked part time at the Lake Junaluska Golf Course. He loved his golf and Tuscola football. He is survived by his wife, Frances Banks Burress; three daughters, Cindy Thurmond and her husband, Rhett, of Clyde, Tracy Head, and her husband, Michael, and Missy Sisk, and her husband, Tim, all of Waynesville; one stepdaughter, Cindy Griffin of Clyde; one stepson, Keith Banks, of Waynesville; two sisters, Phyllis Fullbright, and her husband, Frank, and Linda Cutshaw all of Waynesville; two brothers, Dwayne Burress, and his wife, Bunny, of Waynesville, and Henry Burress, and his wife, Vivian, of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchildren, Becky Cochran, Seth Palmer, Zach Early, Sarah Sisk and one great grandson, Tristin Cochran. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007 at Fullbright Cemetery with the Reverend Danny Siegfried officiating. Following the services, the family will receive friends at 647 Rogers Cove Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716 or Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
