Diane Baker

Diane Baker, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, departed from this world on December 7, 2024, at her residence, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Born on December 25, 1951, in Haywood County, Diane was the daughter of Floyd Fullbright and Gertrude Messer Fullbright, who nurtured her with unwavering support and faith.

A devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church, Diane was known for her steadfast dedication to her faith, serving as a “Prayer Warrior” who touched the lives of many with her heartfelt prayers and encouragement. She loved the Lord deeply, and her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. A true artisan, Diane enjoyed crafting and was particularly passionate about baking and cooking, often sharing her delicious creations with family and friends.

Family was at the core of Diane's existence; she cherished her two daughters, Krista King (Nicholas) and Amy Garner (Ben), and found immense joy in being a grandmother to her four grandchildren: Madeline King, Josie Edwards (Zane), Jeb Garner, and Lydia King. Each moment spent with them was a treasure, and her love for her children and grandchildren was boundless.  Diane is also survived by her mother, Gertrude Messer Fullbright.

In addition to her loving immediate family, Diane is survived by her brothers, John Fullbright and Bruce Burleson, along with many cousins and extended family who adored her. Diane shared a unique bond with her special prayer partner of over 40 years, Polly Angel, with whom she enjoyed a friendship steeped in prayer and support.

Diane is reunited in spirit with her husband, David L. Baker, who preceded her in death in 2015, along with her sister, Phoebe Burleson, and brother, Stanley Fullbright. Though their absence is felt profoundly, the love and memories shared continue to flourish in the hearts of her family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, located at 542 Iron Duff Rd, Waynesville, NC 28785. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church at 542 Iron Duff Rd, Waynesville, NC 28785.

Diane Baker’s legacy of love, faith, and family will forever be cherished, and her light will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched.
