Doice Elkins

Canton – Doice Carlous Elkins, age 81, of Crabtree Mountain Road, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Macie Elizabeth Overman. He was employed at Champion International with 37 years of service as a machine operator. Doice was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church. Doice loved the game of golf and traveling all around the United States pursuing his passion. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lucille Carswell Elkins; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Al-Fandi and her husband, Khader, of Hendersonville; one brother, Ralph Elkins of Ashedown, AR; two grandchildren Justin Deitz and his wife, Brandi, and Sierra Bradshaw; two great-grandchildren, Mysti and Justin Deitz Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday April 2, 2008, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford-Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the services.
