Donald "Don" McReynolds Gaddy

Don McReynolds Gaddy, 87, of Leicester passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, after a brief battle with lung cancer. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Dan Henry Gaddy, Sr. and Sue Dunlap Gaddy. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Bernice Gaddy, whom he remained devoted to and is now united with in Heaven.

He retired from the Asheville Fire Department after 33 years of service. While serving simultaneously for 27 years with the Buncombe County Emergency Operations Center. He was currently employed with the AB Technical Community College Security Staff, serving there for 20 years. Don proudly served in the US Army Infantry at Fort Knox, KY. He was a member of New Life Community Church.

He is survived by his son, Scott A. Gaddy and his wife, Debra of Asheville; grandson, Matthew C. Gaddy; brothers, Dan H. Gaddy, Jr. and his wife, Pauline and Jon F. Gaddy, Sr. and his wife, Betty all of Asheville. He is also survived by other in-law grands, Roman Coxie, Seth Coxie and Amanda Baker.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Wells Chapel of Faith with Reverend Charles Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation Center for the care of Don. Special thanks to Angela, Mark and Samantha.
