Don Winslow

Don Lewis Winslow, a devoted family man and veteran, passed away on February 6, 2025, at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center in Bryson City. He was born on November 30, 1940, in Logan County, West Virginia. Don's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his community.

A proud veteran, Don served as a staff sergeant with the US Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. Following his military service, he applied his skills and work ethic in civilian life, first at Cypress Aviation and later at Finley Industries, where he worked in upholstery. His dedication to hard work was evident throughout his career, earning him respect from colleagues and friends alike.

Known for his kind-hearted nature, Don was often the first person to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had a profound love for animals and flowers, and he found joy in watching football, particularly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His passion for his country and his family was unparalleled, making an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

Don is survived by his wife, Linda Miller Winslow, who stood by his side since the 1970s; his two daughters, Rebecca Holt and Jennifer Kerce (David); two sisters, Nancy and Sandy; and one brother, Bill Winslow. He also leaves behind three granddaughters, Hayley Justice, Sabrina Kerce, and Brooke Ashley Kerce, along with one great-grandson, Holt Justice.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Winslow; his mother, Lois Dent; and one sister, Pat Newsom.

Don Winslow will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for his generous spirit and dedication to his loved ones. His legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville on Friday, February 14th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to fellowship after the services at the funeral home. 

The care of Mr. Winslow has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
