"Will be missed by all"

Waynesville, Donald "Duck" Bennett, age 71, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 at The Homestead.

A native of Haywood County he was the son of the late Phillip and Mable Sheehan Bennett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-son, James "Tony" Scarboro.

Donald retired after 41 years in maintenance at Champion Paper. A member of Hazelwood Baptist Church, he enjoyed working in his yard and camping at Lake Chatuge.

Donald is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carrie Louise Shelton Bennett; a granddaughter, Devon Scarboro Singleton (Cody); sister-in-law, Carolyn Shelton Grooms (Paul); nieces, Amy Russell, Lisa Monteith, Jordan Nichols (Josh) and Paula Russell; daughter-in-law, Leah Taylor; great-niece, Alice and nephew, Boone.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers and in the caring spirit of Donald, the family request that donations in his name be made to support children in Haywood County Foster Care, 157 Paragon Parkway #300, Clyde, NC 28721.
