Donald Boone

Donald Ray Boone, age 78, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Ray Riley and Virginia Cordell Boone. He was a graduate of Canton High School, received his Bachelor's degree at Western Carolina University, his MSW at Florida State University and was owner of HES Management Consultants. He began his career as a psychiatric social worker at Highland Hospital and continued his work at Appalachian Hall. Don had an active private counseling practice and ended his career as a management consultant and life coach. Throughout Don's life and career, he helped and touched many lives with his fun-loving, caring, and quick-witted nature. He was a United States Army veteran. He had a special bond with his granddaughter, Kate. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laura Burnette Boone; a daughter, Donna Parsons and her husband, Grant, of Weaverville; a sister, JoAnn Foegeding and her husband, Allen, of Raleigh; four brothers, Martin Boone and his wife, Susie, of Santa Cruz, California, Joe Boone and his wife, Margie, of Weaverville, Jim Boone and his wife, Nina, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and David Boone and his wife, Lynn, of Cruso; a granddaughter, Katherine Parsons; and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Dr. Carl Mumpower providing the eulogy. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
