Donald Cowan, Sr.

Fairview, Donald M. Cowan, Sr., age 73 passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. A native of Haywood County, he had resided in Fairview for the past 40 years. He was the son of the late George M. Cowan, Jr. and Hazel Teague Cowan. Don was a United States Air Force Veteran serving as a Airman 1st Class. He was a former Road Captain in the Harley Owners Group. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Freshour of Greeneville, TN; two sons, Mike Cowan and his wife Teresa of Asheville, NC and James Cowan of Ft. Bragg, NC; close personal friend, Margaret Teague of Hendersonville, NC; 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Joe, Jacob, Belynda and Brandon and 6 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Todd Royal will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
