Waynesville, Donald Coleman Eudy, age 80, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016 surrounded by his family. Don was born in Concord, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Ray Von and Myrtle Tucker Eudy. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis Ray Eudy and Kenneth Aubrey Eudy; two sisters, Helen Eudy Rhodes and Vonda Eudy Simpson. Don graduated from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and also earned a degree in banking from Louisiana State University. He retired after 35 years of service from First Union National Bank as Vice-President and County Executive. Don also served in the United States Army in Ft. Lewis, Washington from 1958 until 1960. Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Treasurer and many other positions. He was also very active in the community where he served in a chairman capacity for the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Smoky Mountain Development Corporation, the Haywood County United Way, and the Haywood County Economic Development Commission and was a recipient of the Tai Y. Lee award. Don was also involved with a number of other organizations. He was a member of the Waynesville Rotary Club, and was awarded Rotarian of the Year in 1982 as well as being a Paul Harris fellow. When Don wasn't enjoying golfing and fishing he could normally be found gardening. Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia Cline Eudy; two sons, Mark Eudy, and his wife, Penny, of Greenville, South Carolina and Brad Eudy of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Terry Wayne Eudy, and his wife, Julie, of Anderson, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special word of thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Haywood House. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville with Reverend Holly Davis and Reverend Riley Covin officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
